Register for Value Added Tax (VAT)
Registering a company for VAT will either be a compulsory or voluntary registration.
When to register for VAT (Value added tax)
Compulsory value added tax registration
A company must register for VAT if the total value of sales made in a consecutive twelve month period is more or is likely to be more than R1 million. Once the entity has become liable to register, the entity must apply to register for VAT with 21 days from the date it has become liable. Are your books up to date so that you know if SARS will penalise you if you have already reached the R1 million threshold?
Voluntary value added tax registration
A business may also choose to voluntarily register for VAT if the value of sales made or to be made is less than a R1 million, but is more than R50 000 in the previous 12 months.
A company that did not have sales of R50 000 or more in the past 12 months can also register for VAT if they comply with some basic criteria, please contact us to find out more. Contact Us
